Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has explained why GTA 6 still won’t release on PC on day one, despite fans being desperate for it.
When Grand Theft Auto V was released back in 2013, it was Xbox and PlayStation owners who got the first bite at the cherry. If you were on PC, you had to wait until 2015 to finally play what was then Rockstar Games’ new release.

Similar happened with Red Dead Redemption 2, as there was a 13-month gap between the console launch and PC. With Grand Theft Auto 6 getting ready to launch in November, some players have been hoping that Rockstar and Take-Two would drop that way of doing things and just release the console and PC versions together.
However, that isn’t going to be the case, despite Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick noting that “PC can be 45, 50%” for big releases.

Speaking to Bloomberg’s Jason Schrier, Zelnick said: “Now with regard to a big title, PC can be 45, 50% of the sales. Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core,” he said.
“Like really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn’t there, if they’re not served first and best, you kind of don’t hit your other consumers.”

He also noted that Rockstar still has an ongoing exclusivity partnership with Sony, but that doesn’t play a part. “We’ll see how it works out,” Zelnick added.
While fans were expecting a later release for PC, they’re still disappointed. “Still doesn’t make sense why they can’t release on both,” one said on social media. “Crazy considering that RP stuff has carried GTA Online the last set of years,” another added.

Zelnick has been pretty open about GTA 6 recently, joking about people taking time off work to play it come November 19. He also reaffirmed that the marketing will start “soon,” but has yet to confirm a price.
The Take-Two boss is pretty “terrified” by how the game will be judged now that it is becoming a reality, though.
