Take-Two Won’t Put a Number on GTA 6 Yet, but the Pricing Message Is Getting Clearer

GameRelease.online Newsroom May 10, 2026, 12:20 PM

Strauss Zelnick still will not tell players what GTA 6 will cost, but his latest remarks make one thing clearer: Take-Two wants the whole debate framed around value, not the sticker.

The price question is no longer sitting in the background

The chatter around a possible $100 launch price for GTA 6 has been loud enough that Strauss Zelnick was bound to face it sooner or later. What stood out in his latest comments was not some surprise reveal. It was the way he kept the actual number out of reach while nudging the conversation toward a different idea altogether: value.

That is a familiar corporate move, but in this case it feels deliberate rather than evasive. Take-Two clearly knows the price will become a headline the moment it is confirmed. Until then, it appears more interested in building the case that GTA 6 should be judged as a premium event release before anyone starts arguing over the exact figure on the box.

What Take-Two is really trying to sell

The company’s language suggests it wants GTA 6 discussed less like a standard annual purchase and more like a piece of blockbuster entertainment expected to justify itself on scale, polish, and longevity. That does not answer what players will actually pay, but it does explain the direction of the messaging.

There is also a practical reason to hold the line this way. Once a price is spoken aloud, it becomes the whole story for days. By staying abstract, Zelnick keeps the spotlight on ambition instead of letting the release cycle get swallowed by sticker shock before Rockstar is ready.

Players are still right to want a straight answer

None of this changes the most important fact: there is still no official retail price for GTA 6. No executive phrasing, however polished, replaces a storefront listing or a formal announcement from Rockstar. Until those show up, every argument about standard editions, deluxe tiers, or a possible premium entry point remains unfinished business.

Still, the tone is telling. Take-Two may not be ready to reveal the number, but it is already shaping the lens through which that number will be judged when it finally arrives.
