Explosion imminent

GameRelease.online Newsroom May 3, 2026, 08:05 PM

I know many of you are allergic to walls of text and just cynical in general, but I'll still leave this here. We're just about 200 days away from the biggest entertainment product in history being released. I think many of us, even those obsessing about the game, don't really grasp how big it is. Many of those who are part of the hype train "for the memes", are likely too young to have experienced a GTA launch with an adult mind before. This is different than any other game launch in the last 13 years. People who don't game will hear about it. I had a friend, who didn't play a video game since a decade, ask me about GTA 6. It's a part of pop culture. It's hard to describe, but this game will probably feel like being transported back into the early 2000s, but with a scale far beyond any modern game. Feeling like a kid, sitting in front of the TV and being in awe of what we're seeing. That sense of wonder gets lost in most games nowadays. Soon, people will be flooding this subreddit and the tone here may change. We'll see. And many who weren't part of the past GTAs, will say that we're completely overhyping this thing. And I disagree. With Rockstars track history, it's impossible to overhype a new GTA game. They, themselves, even after knowing our expectations, state on their website, that they want to "surpass our expectations". And there's not one reason to not believe them after what they've delivered in the past. The worst part of waiting is over. A little bit of hype and anticipation can already be felt, as marketing is being prepared. A maximum of a few more weeks without any new official material. And from then on, things will really start going and domino into a full worldwide hype like no other regarding gaming. We're almost there. The same idea has already started to surface elsewhere, which gives the update more weight than a one-off mention on its own.

Why the footage matters

This is different than any other game launch in the last 13 years. People who don't game will hear about it.

I had a friend, who didn't play a video game since a decade, ask me about GTA 6. It's hard to describe, but this game will probably feel like being transported back into the early 2000s, but with a scale far beyond any modern game.

The wider picture

That overlap matters because it helps separate an isolated mention from a report that is starting to hold together from more than one direction.

There is no major media attached to this story yet, so the strength of the update depends more on the wording, the context, and whether follow-up reporting arrives behind it.

What comes next

What happens next depends on whether Rockstar or another solid source reinforces the same footage angle. That is usually the point where a small update becomes part of the main GTA 6 story.
